What are your thoughts as Town launch new ‘sustainable’ away kit?
Ipswich Town have launched a new away kit for the 2020/21 season from the Adidas ‘Prime Blue’ range.
The new away strip is made from he fabric of which is made of out recycled plastic, with an advertising video from the club to end plastic waste.
Last week the club revealed a new all blue kit, which celebrates 40 years since our UEFA Cup glory, also features the old yellow style embroidered badge which Town wore when conquering AZ Alkmaar back in 1981.
The club have been teasing the fans that the away strip was something completely different to previous kits, leading to plenty of speculation over different colours and designs over the last few weeks.
“With our fine county of Suffolk having such an expansive coastline, it’s key that we look to endorse and support the outstanding work which adidas and Parley For The Oceans are carrying out. The global impact that this sustainable manufacturing process could have on the environment is monumental. Keeping our areas of outstanding beauty clean and waste-free is something we should all strive to achieve,” Town’s director of retail Lee Hyde told the official club website.
He continued, “Choosing a Primeblue playing kit which is made with Parley Ocean plastic® enables the Club to play a very small part in assisting the efforts to clean up our oceans and promote a core focus on sustainability and recycling.”
The Rank Group Plc (‘Rank’), which owns traditional shirt sponsors Magical Vegas, announced at the start of May that they will be ‘gifting’ the sponsorship to the charity, The Carers Trust, who it has worked closely with over the last six years.
Alongside the new sponsor appearing on the front, Town will be acknowledging the outstanding work of the NHS with a ‘thank you NHS’ message on the back of the home and away shirts for the new campaign.
Town have previously carried the logos of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and East Anglian Air Ambulance on the back and have announced the NHS will be honoured with next season’s shirts.
Due to the social distancing measures, the new shirt is currently only available to pre-order via the Planet Blue shop here.
Anyone ordering a shirt will receive their order once the stock is available to be fulfilled. It is anticipated that this will take place in late July 2020, although this is subject to change due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
