Town U23s claimed a 2-1 victory away against Lowestoft Town on Wednesday evening thanks to goals from trialist Harrison Myring and another goal for striker Aaron Drinan.

Myring, 18, released from Leicester City at the end of last season, started on the right wing and fellow trialist Quevin Castro -who performed so well at Sudbury on Saturday, started in a central midfield role.

The game was only 3 minutes old when Myring opened the scoring, Drinan switched the play to Myring who had half the pitch in front of him, he expertly beat defenders and finished coolly with a left foot strike.

In the 6th minute Town could have doubled their lead, Drinan beat two defenders but his shot was straight at the goalkeeper.

Lowestoft striker Reed was causing the Town defence problems and he really should have equalised in the 32nd minute. Reed combined with his strike partner before getting a shot away from the edge of the box which cannoned of Adam Przybek’s far post.

Lowestoft finished the half the stronger with Adam Przybek making a fine block to deny Shaun Bammant’s header following a corner.

In the second half, just like the first, Town started brightly and Drinan played in Myring who shout first time but was denied by Tibbles in the Lowestoft goal.

However Lowestoft deservedly equalised in the 50th minute, a long ball caught out substitute Dylan Crowe and left Reed the opportunity to finish which he took and dispatched into the bottom corner.

On 56, Reed’s shot was blocked for a Lowestoft corner which Town broke from to regain the lead. Kai Brown burst forward and released Drinan, who eased past a defender and expertly lifting the ball over Tibbles and into the roof of the net.

In the 62nd minute Jack Wilkinson hit a free kick which was deflected leaving keeper Przybek stranded as the ball crashed off the bar.

In the 84th minute, Town could have made the game save but Virral fired wide after some good play and cross from full back Cotter.

The game finished 2-1 with a draw probably the more fitting result. Another goal for Drinan, a solid display from Castro but the man of the match had to be Myring.

The young winger terrified the Lowestoft defence, he possessed real pace and skill, whilst he had an end product, capped off with a goal.
