Town sign youngster Ross Crane

Ipswich Town have announced the signing of 17-year-old winger Ross Crane on a two-year-deal.

The left sided player, who progressed through the AFC Sudbury academy, has spent time training with Town’s academy squad this term, featuring in the youth teams over the years, having previously been with Colchester United at a younger age.

During his time with AFC Sudbury academy, Crane turned down the advances of a professional fourth tier club to continue his develop at the highly thought of local academy.

Last season, the Ipswich-born player signed for Bury Town, who has former Town striker Alan Lee on their board. Crane made 33 appearances scoring two goals for the Isthmian League North Division club.

“Bryan Klug has watched Ross’ progress over the last year or so and he comes with Alan Lee’s backing as well,” Town’s general manager football operations, Lee O’Neill, told the Club website. 

“He’s raw and is learning the game but we will give him the platform to develop as a footballer.”
