Town have completed the signing of Luke Garbutt on loan from Everton.

The 26-year-old full-back put pen to paper on a deal that will see him stay at Portman Road until the end of the season.

Garbutt is primarily seen as a left-back, however he converted into a left-winger at Oxford last season and it was in that position which he played his best football, four goal goals in 36 appearances.

There were rumours on Twitter that Garbutt was at Portman Road surfaced earlier this month and it now appears that the 26-year-old was indeed at the club with the move having been ongoing for a few weeks.

The Blues have been in the market for a left-back this summer with Myles Kenlock the only recognisable left back with Jonas Knudsen having departed at the end of last season.

Garbutt is contracted to Everton until 2020, the left-back has been out on loan several times with Cheltenham, Colchester, Fulham, Wigan and as mentioned, Oxford United.

Marston, from EADT, spoke earlier of how impressed he was by the young full back whilst on loan with Colchester.

Luke follows in the footsteps of fellow Toffees Conor Grant, Callum Connolly and Matthew Pennington who have all had loan spells with Blues in recent years.

It’s understood he is set to join up with the Town squad for the back end of their pre-season training camp in Germany and could be involved in the four-team Interwetten Cup at Meppen on Sunday.
