James Norwood opened his Town account as Blues lose their opener to Fortuna Düsseldorf 4-1.

Town fell behind within three minutes as a ball in from the left wing from Matthias Zimmermann found Oliver Fink to head past Bialkowski.

Town responded immediately as summer signing James Norwood poked the ball into the back of the net.

Erik Thommy scored twice, with his second coming from a Bartosz Bialkowski error, before Ghanaian international Erik Tekpetey added number four as the Blues failed to clear inside their own box.

As well as the number of goals conceded, the hamstring injury to Toto Nsiala will concern Lambert. The centre back needing to be replaced by Bailey Clements, meaning a reshuffle for Town with Nydam moving from left back to centre midfield and Cole Skuse moving back to centre half.

On a positive note, James Norwood looks a signing! A robust striker who Town have been crying out for. A goal on his debut will be a positive for Lambert as well as another 45 minutes for Emyr Huws.

The Blues will now play either SV Meppen or Utrecht in the third-place play-off.

Bialkowski; Donacien, Woolfenden, Nsiala (Clements 16), Nydam; Skuse, Huws, El Mizouni; Dobra, Lankester, Norwood
