Town have launched a school scheme called ‘Class of Blues’ for the 2019/20 season in association with Suffolk Norse.

The initiative is aimed at Year 2 pupils in Ipswich and across Suffolk and aims to introduce youngsters to Ipswich Town Football Club.

It is the Club’s second scheme working with schools, following on from the introduction of ‘School of the Day‘ last season.

Class of Blues will see pupils from a particular primary school invited to Portman Road for a tour of the stadium. Their visit will also include an educational programme that will allow the children to further their numeracy, literacy, speaking and listening skills in a football-related environment.

Pupils will then receive a certificate to commemorate their trip to Portman Road, along with an adult and junior ticket to attend the Club’s next home fixture.

Town are delighted that Suffolk Norse have also agreed to be the schools transport provider and will transport pupils to and from the stadium on their selected tour dates.

Class of Blues will initially be run over six games throughout the season. However, this could be increased.

The six fixtures are: Tranmere Rovers (Saturday, 28 September), Bury (Saturday, 2 November), Accrington Stanley (Saturday, 11 January), Peterborough United (Saturday, 1 February), Coventry City (Saturday, 7 March) and Southend United (Saturday 4 April). Tour dates are likely to be the Wednesday preceding the designated fixture.

Town say it’s at their discretion which schools or academies are selected for the new scheme.
