Town fans react to potential protest before Burton clash

There has been a new Twitter page created (@WakeUporSellUp) with the view of gathering as many Town supporters as possible to join them in a protest march against current owner Marcus Evans.

The group, rumoured to be at least 50 strong already, will be meeting at the Sir Alf Ramsey statue at 14:00 on Saturday, prior to Town’s clash with Burton Albion.

The fans have grown increasingly frustrated by the lack of ‘investment’ (on the player side) by Marcus Evans, with clear calls for his head at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night. Paul Lambert then added fuel to the fire in his post-match comments at Kingsmeadow, stating he tried to bring former Blue Connor Wickham to the club on loan.

Although emotions are very high within the Town support, many fans are urging their fellow supporters to look at the bigger picture, with Bury and Bolton examples of where Town could be without Evans’ backing.

Derek Upson: Without Marcus Evans we would be in a far worse place, if you moaners know better then go for it if not cut him some slack!!!!
Yvonne Taylor: Absolutely ridiculous
Steve Lumley: Is there any need ??? There’s a time and a place but Saturday ain’t it…. not in my book anyway…
Stephen Hackett: He has said the club is for sale if anybody wants to buy it. He has invested millions with as yet no return. What more is it you think he should do?
Barbara Lucas: What good would that do . The Players need to know we are still supporting them .
Paul Kettle: The best way to make him stand up and take notice is to hit him in the pocket… Anyone who wants Evan’s out should stay away. He’ll soon take notice of that…
Chaz Rutherford: Be careful what you wish for. The grass is not always greener on the other side
Eddie Smith: Just focus on getting behind the team rather than focusing on this rubbish. How is it Evans fault that we haven’t been scoring? Not saying it’s lamberts fault either, just keep supporting
