Town ‘closed down’ until further notice due to COVID-19

Ipswich Town have today announced that they have effectively ‘closed down’ their Portman Road offices and Playford Road training ground until further notice.

The decision falls in line with Government guidelines as the country combats Covid-19.

The season has already been postponed until at least April 30, with any football activity unlikely to restart until May at the very earliest.

“The health and well-being of our staff – and the wider community – is our main priority,” Town owner Marcus Evans told the Club website.

“The  vast majority of our staff are now temporarily not required to come to work and the few that are in at Portman Road or Playford Road because of the nature of their job, are working strictly to government guidelines.

“These are very difficult and challenging times for all of us and while football will return one day, our thoughts at the moment are with everyone affected by the coronavirus outbreak.”

The Club will continue to update supporters on news from Portman Road via the Club website and social media channels. The club shop and ticket office are now only operating online and with both phone lines also not while the club remains closed.
