The Reaction: Lambert, Jackson & Three Word Verdicts

We take a look at some of the reaction from Saturday’s 4-1 win against Accrington Stanley at Portman Road.

Lambert – It could have been more!

“The lads deserve so much credit for the way they played,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“They have taken criticism from some areas which I think has been unfair but they reacted brilliantly.

“It could have been five or six in the first-half and the level of performance, the drive and hunger was there in abundance. The intensity was back to what it was and while we were clinical with some chances, we could have had more.”

Both Luke Woolfenden and Luke Chambers were a constant threat going forward, both registering an assist in the game, something they’ve worked on says Lambert.

“We worked on something during the week and asked them to do something that is alien to them and they did great. Forget talk of systems and all that nonsense though. The game is always about players.”

Jackson – Let’s build on this

Jackson opened the scoring against his former club on Saturday and that sent the benchmark for a brilliant display by Town. The win ended a run of winless games which stretched back to the 5th November in the league and has left Town third in the table.

“It’s great to end that run and be back near the top of the table,” Jackson told iFollow Ipswich.

“We worked hard and everyone played their part. The first-half especially we were right on it. Getting the first goal was massive for us. It gave us the momentum and then to get the second and third before half-time really put us in a good position.

“It is obviously important to get back to winning ways and now we have to build on that and take it into Tuesday night.”
