‘Supercomputer’ predicts Ipswich as Champions

With another international weekend upon us, that gives us a bit more time to search the web a bit wider for any latest ITFC news.

We stumbled across a ‘supercomputer’ at FiveThirtyEight who predicts the outcome on competitions based on several statistics within the game.

Town currently sit joint top of League One ahead of Wycombe’s fixture at Tranmere on Sunday, and the statistics believe it will Town who celebrate success come May.

The ‘supercomputer’ predicts that Paul Lambert’s men will finish on 86 points which will see the title head to Portman Road ahead of Sunderland who will ‘claim’ the runners up spot with 78 points.

The Play-Offs are predicted to be battled out between Oxford United, Rotherham United, Peterborough United and Wycombe Wanderers with AFC Wimbledon joining Bolton and Southend United in the relegation places.

Alongside the standings, the ‘supercomputer’ can also give end of season probabilities and Town’s current percentage probability to win the league is currently 41%, with Sunderland the next closest on 15%.

And yes, I know what you’re thinking, the ‘supercomputer’ works for the Premier League too. Our friends up the A140 appear certain to join Town in the Championship next season, with a predicted 29 points and a huge 74% probability of getting relegated.
