Freddie Sears says he wants to repay the faith the Club has shown in him after signing a new contract at Town.

The forward, who is currently out of action with a cruciate ligament injury, signed a two-year deal at Portman Road this morning, and is desperate to return and do his best for Blues.

“We’ve been in talks for a while, probably since January or February time, so I’m delighted to have signed the new deal,” Sears told the official Club website.

“I was in my option year and when that’s the case you want to get something sorted as soon as possible. I don’t think my situation, in terms of being injured, helped me or the Club but I’m pleased it’s sorted.

“The Club has shown faith in me by offering me a deal while I’m sidelined. I will continue to focus on my rehab and try to repay that faith when I return.

“I’m desperate to get back fit and do the best I can for Town.”

Sears first signed for Town in January 2015, and has gone on to score 30 goals in 166 league appearances during his time in Suffolk.
