Roberts: Disappointed in the result
Town forward, Jordan Roberts, was disappointed in not converting chances in Towns 0-0 draw with Meppen (3-1 defeat on penalties).
“Yeah, we had a few chances,” the striker said. “We were sat in the dressing room after the game and were a bit disappointed in the result.
“But we don’t try and concentrate much on the result as it’s pre-season, but it’s always nice to win games of football, that’s what it’s about.
“For us at the moment, we’ve come back, we’ve played two games as a group, there have been new faces in the building, so we’re trying to bond even more and the 10 days up here has been good for us.
“When we go back we’ll play more pre-season games and look to get more fitness in the tank and hopefully win pre-season games.”
When asked about the tournament format of 45 minute games, this was something Roberts wasn’t familiar with.
“No, it’s something you do on FIFA or something online but it was the same for everyone,” he added.
“When you go out there you give it your all no matter how long you’re playing, whether you’ve coming on as a substitute or you’re starting a game and I thought everyone did that today.”
Being a striker, pre-season or not, does missing a penalty bother the striker?
“Of course, because when you’ve got an opportunity to score whether that’s a penalty, a freekick or a chance in front of goal, you have to take it,” he reflected.
“I’m sure the lads, me and Kayden especially, the strikers will work on things like penalties and freekicks when we go back to training. We work on everything and we hopefully take it into the games on Saturdays.”
When asked on the injuries to Toto Nsiala and Teddy Bishop, he added: “Obviously it’s the physios’ department to speak about but I’m sure the boys will do all they can to recover and come back for the first game of the season.”
