Quiet Deadline Day expected at Town
Town are expecting a quiet transfer deadline day today, with outgoings (if any) being the main focus today. The deadline is 5pm for League One and Two clubs to add to their squads.
When asked if he is expecting to do much business, Town boss Lambert replied: “We’ll have a look and see if anything comes up. I’m pretty sure things will fly in (offers for Town players and players being offered to Town) and then it’s up to us. You can never rule anything out.”
Lambert has made nine summer signings so far in the form of Tomas Holy (Gillingham, free), Will Norris (Wolves, loan), Adam Przybek (West Brom, free), Vincent-Young (Colchester, £500k), James Wilson (free agent), Georgiou (Tottenham, loan), Luke Garbutt (Everton, loan), Keane (free agent) and James Norwood (Tranmere, free).
One player who seems surplus to requirements is Josh Emmanuel, whose former Rotherham boss Paul Warne played down the chances of a return to the Millers over the weekend:
“We made contact with Ipswich over the summer about Josh but they wanted to keep him in. I think he’s, like, fourth choice at Ipswich now though.
“He might become available but, as I sit here now, I don’t think it will happen.
“But if I was to bring in a right-back, Josh would be high on my list.”
Alongside Josh Emmanuel, Jordan Roberts is another player who seems unlikely to feature much more in a Town shirt. Town will be able to send players on loan to National League sides which could see Barry Cotter, Corrie Ndaba, Bailey Clements, Armando Dobra or Harry Wright go out on loan after today.
