Paderborn 3-2 Town
Town fell to a 3-2 defeat against Bundesliga side SC Paderborn 07 in their opening match of pre-season.
Jordan Roberts and Kayden Jackson scored for Paul Lambert’s side at the Stadion Laumeskamp in Delbrück, Germany.
Kick off was delayed by 15 minutes following a three-hour trip from their training base close to the Dutch border.
As predicted the Town boss, Paul Lambert fielded entirely different teams in either half as Town started their pre-season campaign.
Tomas Holy was given the first half goalkeeping duties, making his first appearance in a Town shirt since making his summer move from Gillingham.
James Norwood, Alan Judge, Jon Nolan and Gwion Edwards were all in the stands with the injured Freddie Sears with none of them in action in today’s game.
Report from ITFC Official Website:
Blues started brightly but were 3-0 down by the 34th minute thanks to clinical finishing from Paderborn’s Kai Pröger, Tobias Schwede and Babacar Gueye.
Town pulled one back, though, nine minutes before half-time as Roberts chased down shot-stopper Michael Ratajczak before blocking his attempted clearance into the net from close range.
Jackson again reduced the deficit as he stepped up and converted a penalty he had won himself in the 76th minute.
Lambert’s men enjoyed plenty of possession – and moved the ball around impressively -for the remainder of the contest without creating any clear-cut opportunities.
Town first half: Holy, Emmanuel, Nsiala, Woolfenden, Kenlock, Skuse (c), Dobra, Bishop, Lankester, Dozzell, Roberts.
Town second half: Bialkowski, Donacien, Chambers (c), Ndaba, Nydam, Downes, Huws, Rowe, El Mizouni, Clements, Jackson.
