O’Neil coy on Bart future
General manager of football operations Lee O’Neill has confirmed there is “a lot of interest” in keeper Bart Bialkowski.
“We’ve had a number of enquiries for him – and for other players as well”
“Naturally there is going to be a lot of interest in Bart. He’s been one of our best players for a number of years,” Lee told iFollow Ipswich.
“We’ve had a number of enquiries for him – and for other players as well. We are not going to let any player go though unless it’s right for the Club.
“We have looked at other ‘keepers out there if Bart does go – and we also have two young ‘keepers in Harry Wright and Adam Przybek who will have the chance to impress the manager – but at the moment Bart is an Ipswich Town player and will be back with us for pre-season training next week.”
Bart has been heavily linked with Birmingham City but with manager Garry Monk leaving the club yesterday, it appears Millwall are favourites for his signature, with the Millwall boss remaining tight lipped on the speculation.
Town have already added two keepers this summer with the arrival of Tomas Holy and Adam Przybek but O’Neil confirms that Town will add to the goalkeeping department should Bart move on.
Paul Lambert has insisted that no players will be leaving Portman Road on the cheap this summer. Ellis Harrison has attracted interest from Portsmouth earlier in the summer, but it appears they may have turned their attention elsewhere. Gwion Edwards has also been linked with a move away from Portman Road with Hull City, since then manager Nigel Adkins has left the club.
