Norwood Reaction

Since announcing James Norwood, there has been lots of reaction across the whole of the football league.

To wet the appetite for the new season below are all of Norwood’s goals last season for Tranmere Rovers.

Tranmere fans, on the whole, have thanked their hero ‘Lord Norwood’ and wished him best at Town. James Norwood’s record whilst a Tranmere Rovers player, 189 games, 93 goals, absolutely key in Tranmere’s back to back promotions.

Chairman Palios speaking on the transfer to Tranmere’s official website: “James came to Prenton Park when the club was at its lowest ebb and in his four years more than fulfilled his contract, playing a major part in the club’s return to the EFL and then to League One.

“The SWA (Super White Army) appreciated his efforts for the cause and, of course, his goals. Whilst we made every effort to keep him, we respect his decision to move on and wish him well for the future.”

Manager Mellon said: “We’d like to thank James for all of his fantastic effort. I’ve enjoyed working with him.

“I have loved watching his development at Tranmere Rovers over the last few years and we wish him well on his ongoing journey, except when he plays against Tranmere.

“He will always have a special place in the memories of the staff and the fans.”

Andy Hinchcliffe, who has watched Norwood several times through his role with sky, when asked to describe Norwood to the EFL website ‘he is astonishing…. his fitness levels, his attitude, his appetite, I’ve never seen anything like it’.

On Twitter, Town fan @CobboldMassive has started The Norwood Challenge. He has vowed to pay £10 to charity for every goal he scores during the season. A gesture which many Town fans have joined, alongside the man himself…
