Lambert: It’s all about looking forward

Paul Lambert believes the players and staff need to learn from last season as he looks to guide Town back to the Championship at the second attempt.

Town who were top of the table as late as January, ultimately fell away and ended the season in 11th position, the club’s lowest finish in over 60 years.

However, despite some positives, Lambert vows that the players, staff and himself all need to learn from their mistakes last season ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

“We have to learn from last season. We all do,” Lambert told the club site.

“I have looked at myself and what I could have changed. I always do that.

“I’ll speak to the lads and ask them for their opinions. We are all in it together and we need to stick together if we are to be successful.

“Results hurt us over the last two months, having been top in January but we mustn’t forget the good things we did either.

“It’s about looking forward now and I’m more determined than ever to get it right next season.”

The season is set to start on September 12, with EFL clubs meeting tomorrow (Friday), with the start date for the 2020/21 league campaign high on the agenda, meaning that the season would be just over seven weeks away.

Meanwhile, former Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski won the Championship Golden Glove in his first season with new club Millwall.

The former Town favourite kept 16 Championship clean sheets following his permanent move to South London in January.
