Preparations for the new season are now well underway with the majority of the squad reported back to Playford Road. Next week sees Town up their schedule and intensity with the tour of Germany.

Town will start the tour by playing Bundesliga club Paderborn 07 in Delbrück on Saturday, July 6 before taking part in the four team Interwetten Cup in Meppen on Sunday, July 14.

The tournament will see Blues face another Bundesliga side, and Town friends, Fortuna Dusseldorf, in a 45 minute semi-final, with the winner facing either FC Utrecht from the Dutch top flight or German third tier club SV Meppen, with games to be played at the Hansch-Arena. There will also be a third place play-off.

The tour is where Lambert thinks pre-season really begins: “It will be next week when we go to Germany that pre-season will really kick in I think,” the Town boss told the Club website.

“The time out there will be huge for us. The players will be living in each other’s pockets. You have to respect each other.

“They will be working hard and they have to try and do everything we ask of them to prepare for that first game in August.

“We are facing some good teams out in Germany. That helps with the preparation but it’s about the whole trip and working together out there.”

Yesterday we looked at what players Lambert will be taking on the tour, with the squad, other than new signings, is likely to be Bialkowski, Holy; Emmanuel, Donacien, Chambers, Nsiala, Woolfenden, Ndaba, Kenlock; Skuse, Nolan, Bishop, Downes, Dozzell, Nydam, El Mizouni, Huws; Edwards, Lankester, Rowe; Norwood, Jackson & Roberts.

For any Town fans who are heading to Germany, the official website has released a travel guide to Meppen, this includes all the information travelling Blues will need to know.
