Lambert: Bit early for KVY but Sears and Bishop ready to start

Town boss Paul Lambert has provided an update regarding his squad ahead of Saturday’s must win clash at Blackpool.

Kane Vincent-Young, who hasn’t featured since our win at Southend in October, has been back training with the first team but Lambert feels Saturday’s trip to Blackpool could be a bit early for the former Colchester man.

Speaking to the Official site, Lambert said: “Tomorrow is probably a bit early for him (Vincent-Young) but we’re really happy with how he’s progressing.”

However, both Freddie Sears and Teddy Bishop have been given the green light to start at Bloomfield Road. Sears will be hoping to partner Will Keane in the absence of suspended Kayden Jackson and injured James Norwood.

Bishop, who has provided several cameo roles from the bench this calendar year, could start just behind Keane with Lambert opting for a lone striker which worked so well at Coventry earlier in the season.

Speaking on the pair, Lambert said: “Their game time hasn’t been as much as we would’ve liked. I don’t know if they are ready for 90 minutes but they are ready to start.”

Either way, if Lambert opts for a 3-5-2 or Will Keane as the lone striker with creative behind him, the Town boss hopes his side starts finishing the chances created, something they’ve been guilty of in recent weeks.

“We are a really good side but we need to start finishing chances.” Lambert added. “That needs to come from everyone, not just the strikers.”
