Keane: Delighted to get on the scoresheet

Will Keane was impressed with Town’s performance in the Trophy as Paul Lambert’s side defeated Gillingham 4-0 at Portman Road.

The Blues striker netted a fourth for the hosts in the dying stages, with Emyr Huws and Jordan Roberts also on the score sheet for Town as well as an own goal.

“I thought the whole team did well,” Keane told iFollow Ipswich.

“There were a lot of changes but we have a big squad and we wanted to keep the winning run going. We managed to do that convincingly and it was a good overall performance.

“If you’re going to push for promotion in the league then you need healthy competition in the squad and I think we gave the manager a few things to think about tonight.

“Personally it was good for me to get out there and get a full 90 minutes under my belt and of course I am delighted that I got on the score sheet.”
