According to TWTD and EADT, former Lincoln City centre-back James Wilson was at Playford Road training with Town first team squad today.

The 30-year-old had his contract terminated at Sincil Bank at the end of last season and is on the lookout for a new club.

Newport-born Wilson, 30, can operate at right back alongside centre-back as played at various clubs including Sheffield United, Bristol City and Oldham.

Earlier we reported that Town are one of a number of clubs eyeing a move for Bury defender Adam Thompson.

Town currently only have two senior centre-backs in Luke Chambers and Toto Nsiala, backed up by youngsters Luke Woolfenden and Corrie Ndaba. Paul Lambert is keen to add more experience to his defence with Thompson fitting the bill.
