Towns move for Tom Elliott has been put on hold due to the hamstring injury he suffered earlier this month in the Lions’ pre-season friendly against Concord Rangers.

The 28-year-old’s recovery from the problem, reported to be a grade one strain at the time, had been expected to be further along the line at this point, so Town are still keeping their options open.

The Blues continue to be linked with an alternative striking option, Blackburn’s Joe Nuttall, who was linked with a late potential swap deal with Bartosz Bialkowski.

According to The Sun, Town could move for the 22-year-old, who is also believed to be subject of a £750,000 bid from Blackpool.

Bury-born Nuttall, who is 6ft tall, started his career with Manchester City’s youth set-up before moving on to Aberdeen. Whilst at Aberdeen Nuttall had spells on loan at Stranraer and Dumbarton.

The forward joined Blackburn in 2017 and has made nine starts and 28 sub appearances, scoring eight goals.
