Chambo back for Pompey clash

Paul Lambert is expecting Town skipper Luke Chambers to be back available for Saturday’s clash at Fratton Park.

Chambers has missed the last five fixtures through a mixture of being ‘rested’ and a neck injury.

“Hopefully he will be okay,” Town boss Paul Lambert told iFollow Ipswich.

“He has trained the last few days and he’s okay. He should be alright for Saturday but we will see over next few days.”

Another player who could be back available for selection is full-back Janoi Donacien after recovering from his virus which saw him miss the Bristol Rovers clash last weekend.

Further good news is the availability of Town forward Freddie Sears. Sears has come through two U23 fixtures and will be targeting some first-team action of the festive period, although Paul Lambert has said he won’t be rushing Sears back into action.

However, winger Danny Rowe is set for a further spell on the sidelines with his knee problem.

The wideman, who has been out for a couple of weeks, had the operation today.

“It’s a blow because he’s being doing well,” Town boss Paul Lambert told the Club website.

“He’s had a clean up with his cartilage and he’s going to be out for a while.”
